English Residential Adjunct - College of Arts and Sciences
About The Position
Liberty University seeks an English Residential Adjunct to teach residential courses in the Department of Humanities. Teaching assignments include general education courses in English and Writing. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and bring a love of teaching, effective written and oral communication, knowledge of pedagogical best practices, and the ability to use current teaching technology such as learning management systems and e-textbooks. Adjuncts are expected to model a personal commitment to Liberty University’s goals and values, actively engage in personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview, and support the university’s evangelical standards and mission. They should use varied techniques to foster effective learning, recognize students as individuals, and accommodate differences in students’ abilities and interests where possible.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in English or 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and a love of teaching.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English well enough to convey messages and correspond articulately and professionally.
- Knowledge of pedagogical best practices.
- Ability to use current teaching technology, including learning management systems and e-textbooks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Commitment to Liberty University’s evangelical standards, mission, goals, and values.
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. in English.
- MFA in Creative Writing.
- Credentials to teach TESOL.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the Humanities Department, including general education English and Writing courses.
- Record attendance and grades in Canvas.
- Manage the classroom and allocate teaching resources.
- Adhere strictly to Liberty University policies and represent the University in an exemplary manner.
- Work effectively as a team member while embracing and fostering Liberty University’s mission.
- Support student learning through effective teaching practices and attention to individual differences, abilities, and interests.
