College of Arts and Sciences - Temporary Assistant Professor - English
About The Position
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s College of Arts and Sciences is hiring a full-time, temporary, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of English, beginning August 2027. This is a one-year position with healthcare benefits. The successful applicant will teach four first-year composition courses each semester. Applications will be reviewed beginning immediately. Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, rhetoric, composition, or a related field, conferred by August 15, 2027.
- At least two years of experience teaching first-year composition.
- Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, one sample syllabus for a composition course, a summary of student teaching evaluations, and contact information for three professional references. One reference letter must detail the degree-completion timeline for ABD candidates.
