About The Position

The Department of Speech, Language, and Communication Sciences (SLCS) at Xavier University invites applications for Adjunct Instructors. The department seeks a collaborative educator to contribute to a new academic program and strengthen the undergraduate curriculum in speech-language pathology. SLCS currently offers an undergraduate program and plans to launch a graduate program in speech-language pathology in 2031. Consistent with Xavier University's mission, the Department aims to equip students to serve individuals with communication disorders and the professionals and communities who support them. The Department is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS), which emphasizes experiential learning through field placements, internships, research, and clinical opportunities. Requirements

• A masters, clinical doctorate, or Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely related field.
• A Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• A commitment to student advising and mentoring.
• A commitment to the missions of the Department of Speech, Language, and Communication Sciences and Xavier University, including Xavier's Jesuit Catholic educational tradition.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supervising students in a clinical, practicum, or clinical fellowship (CFY) setting.
• Evidence of effective college- or university-level teaching or demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
• Clinical and research interests across all areas of speech-language pathology.
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology, and later, graduate-level curriculum as the Department's graduate program develops toward its planned 2031 launch.
• Supervise students in clinical and practicum experiences as part of SLCS's experiential learning sequence.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate (and, in time, graduate) students.
