Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s Department of Sociology and Communication seeks an adjunct instructor to teach college-level Communication courses for Spring 2027. Courses may include Fundamentals of Public Speaking and other Communication electives. Classes may be taught face-to-face or online. An opportunity for a full-time teaching load of four or five sections may be available, but is not guaranteed and depends on course availability and departmental needs. The position calls for an instructor who can work cooperatively with faculty and staff, respond promptly to queries from students, faculty, and staff, and demonstrate interest in active and collaborative learning, instructional technology, and hybrid and online teaching. Applicants must submit a cover letter stating whether they can teach face-to-face or online classes, a resume or CV, contact information for three professional references, unofficial transcripts, and a one-page overview of teaching experience and philosophy. Letters of recommendation must be on letterhead, less than one year old, and bear the writer’s actual signature. If selected, official transcripts must be sent directly from each degree-granting institution before a letter of appointment is issued. The position is security-sensitive and employment is contingent on credential verification and completion of a criminal history check.
