Adjunct Faculty: Department of Social Work 2026-27
About The Position
Augsburg University's Department of Social Work is inviting applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach undergraduate, graduate, and LADC program courses for the 2026-27 academic year. This search will establish a pool of instructors who may be selected on an as-needed basis throughout the year for openings occurring in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. Available courses vary by term. Undergraduate classes are typically held during the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Graduate courses are offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions with asynchronous online activities, and meet either on weeknights or weekends. In addition to teaching and grading, instructors are expected to engage with students via email, hold regular office hours, provide course progress updates, and communicate with the course coordinator. A course syllabus, calendar, textbook and homework selections, sample activities, exams, and shared office space are generally provided. Each course requires approximately 12-15 hours per week for 15-16 weeks. The successful candidate must demonstrate high intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation. Adjunct teaching at Augsburg University is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work for all social work courses.
- LADC certification for all LADC courses.
- Two years of post-MSW full-time practice experience.
- Social Work Licensure in the state of Minnesota at the graduate level (LGSW, LISW, or LICSW).
- Commitment to student engagement and student success with a diverse group of learners.
- High level of intercultural competency.
- Commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation.
- Must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
