About The Position

The instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Instruction can be delivered during the day, evening, or weekend, utilizing various formats including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote. Face-to-face and hybrid classes may be held on any Prince George’s Community College campus or at off-campus locations. The instructor is expected to stay current in their discipline, continuously explore new teaching methods to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content to accommodate diverse learning styles, and develop appropriate assessment tools to monitor student learning outcomes. Additionally, the instructor will participate in related activities such as professional development, academic advising, and curriculum design.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent certification and accreditation in related discipline (Communication, Public Relations, and/or Journalism) from recognized college, university or national, state, or regional organization
  • Degrees are applicable only if earned at accredited institutions and verified with official transcripts
  • Must be currently employed by Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of teaching experience preferred at the college or high school level in the subject matter or significant professional experience relevant to the teaching area
  • Pertinent professional experience may be substituted for the master’s degree at the discretion of both the Academic Coordinator and Chair
