About The Position

This position reports to the Executive Director and involves leading the Public Relations and Marketing Team. The role actively promotes student understanding of and participation in the Student Government Association (SGA). It serves as the SGA’s media relations coordinator, informing campus and local media about SGA events, news, decisions, and policy. The position is responsible for managing and creating all SGA graphic design, images, and promotional materials, and for planning and running the SGA’s radio show. It also facilitates directors' programming and outreach, coordinates and maintains the SGA’s social media presence, and produces a regular newsletter. A key responsibility is forming a working relationship with the Office of University Relations and Communications. The role also involves developing, updating, and managing the SGA website, creating and uploading Bright Sign Presentations, and collaborating with fellow directors to plan events for campuswide observation days. The Director is expected to attend SGA Senate and Executive Staff meetings, serve a minimum of 10 hours per week in the SGA Office or related work meetings on campus (with the exception of Student Senate), and meet with the Executive Director at the end of each semester to discuss and document transitional material, including accomplishments and helpful tips. This documentation must be typed, emailed, and stored in the SGA email account, and handed over for the next person in the role. Transitional materials must also include an updated contact list at the last executive meeting of the term. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently employed or enrolled as a student at any of the Universities of Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 10 hours per week commitment
  • Ability to type, email, and store documentation
  • Ability to create and upload presentations

Responsibilities
