About The Position

The UNT Dallas College of Law is seeking experienced lawyers, judges, and law school instructors to serve as adjunct faculty members for the Spring 2027 semester. The College of Law is a public institution in downtown Dallas with both full-time day and part-time evening divisions. Its core goals include widening access to legal education, developing practice-related competencies through excellence in teaching and curriculum, creating opportunities for students by keeping tuition low, becoming a national leader in legal education practices, improving access to justice, and serving as a civic partner to the Dallas region. Adjunct faculty are integral to the College of Law's learning community, contributing to curricular and co-curricular activities focused on student learning and professional formation. They are expected to adhere to the College of Law's instructional and curricular practices, including the use of the Canvas Learning Management System, learning outcomes, multiple assessments, and research/writing modules, with support provided for training, course design, and LMS assistance.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree.
  • Superb academic and professional qualifications.
  • Five or more years of practice experience that is sufficiently extensive and high quality to be a foundation for teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor students on professional formation.
  • Commitment to the goals of the College of Law.
  • Commitment to the College of Law's curricular and instructional methods and goals.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one course in the Spring 2027 semester.
  • Follow instructional and curricular practices of the College of Law.
  • Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Incorporate learning outcomes, multiple assessments, and research and writing modules within a course.
  • Adhere to instructional parameters set by the College of Law Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  • Incorporate departmental assessment measures into their courses.
  • Compile and report relevant data.
