The University of St. Thomas Biology Department is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach lecture courses in either BIOL 208 – Biological Communication and Energetics, or BIOL 209 – Biology of Sustainability, for the Fall 2026 semester. These are non-tenure track appointments. Both courses are 4-credit core Biology courses for majors. While existing course materials are available, instructors have some flexibility to modify them. Current faculty with experience teaching these courses will provide mentorship. BIOL 208 is a lecture-based course on cellular and molecular biology, capped at 48 students. BIOL 209 is a discussion-based, interactive class on environmental challenges, capped at 24 students. Expertise in the relevant subject matter is required, and some experience leading college-level lectures is preferred. A PhD is also preferred. This is a continuous recruitment posting, with candidate review beginning as soon as possible. The salary range for these adjunct positions is $5,994 to $6,717 per 4-credit undergraduate course, with the rate determined by academic credentials and teaching experience. BIOL 208 is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-9:40 AM (early September to mid-December) and is taught in person. BIOL 209 sections are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (early September to mid-December) with Monday and Wednesday sessions in person, and Friday sessions online. The available times for BIOL 209 are 8:15-9:20 AM, 9:35-10:40 AM, or 10:55 AM-12:00 PM.
