About The Position

The Adjunct position in Criminology offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the academic development of students pursuing studies in criminal justice and related fields. The primary goal of this role is to deliver high-quality instruction that fosters critical thinking, analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of criminological theories and practices. The successful candidate will design and implement course materials that engage students in contemporary issues surrounding crime, law enforcement, and the justice system. This role also involves mentoring students, assessing their progress, and contributing to the academic community through collaboration with faculty and participation in departmental activities. Ultimately, the adjunct instructor will play a vital role in preparing students for careers in criminology, law enforcement, policy-making, and research by providing them with a solid educational foundation and practical insights.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in criminological theories, research methods, and contemporary criminal justice issues.
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level, preferably in criminology or related disciplines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and support diverse student populations.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver course lectures, seminars, and discussions in criminology and related subjects.
  • Prepare and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments to evaluate student learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students to support their educational and career goals.
  • Stay current with developments in criminology research and incorporate relevant findings into course content.
  • Collaborate with full-time faculty and participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development as needed.
