About The Position

The State of Georgia is seeking an Adjunct Faculty, Women's Basketball Coach for Southern Crescent Technical College. This role involves assisting the Head Women's Basketball Coach in various aspects of the program, including coaching, recruitment, strategy development, and athlete supervision, while upholding the standards of the NJCAA/GCAA athletics program. The position is part-time, not to exceed 29 hours per week, and does not include insurance benefits. Candidates must meet specific educational and experience requirements and successfully complete a criminal background investigation and motor vehicle screening.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate area of specialization OR Two (2) years coaching, and program specific skills substantiated by training and/or work experience.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Coaching techniques and skills.
  • Ability to establish and effective working relationships.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and motor vehicle screening.
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Head Women's Basketball Coach in coaching student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA/GCAA guidelines.
  • Supports student-athlete recruitment activities and outreach.
  • Conducts individual and small-group practice sessions as assigned.
  • Provides performance feedback and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Assists with developing and adjusting game strategy.
  • Upholds the philosophy and standards of the NJCAA/GCAA athletics program.
  • Supervises athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.
  • Teaches injury-prevention techniques and proper safety procedures.
  • Follows established protocols when injuries occur.
  • Assists with team scheduling, travel coordination, and drives to away games.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency cards, and required documentation.
  • Distributes and collects equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Maintains and secures inventory of all sport-specific equipment.
  • Monitors academic progress and communicates updates to stakeholders.
  • Supports discipline and conduct expectations to uphold program reputation.
  • Assists with facility scheduling and coordination of competitive play.
  • Carries out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of departmental goals.
