About The Position

The Addictions Group Therapist will join the Avenues family, contributing to the recovery community. The specific workplace, Avenues Recovery Center at Eastern Shore, is a 100-bed residential facility providing inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. This expansive building is newly renovated, modern, and appealing, offering an array of amenities and a true hotel-like experience. Set on 7.74 acres of picturesque and secluded property, it provides an ideal setting for clients to heal, re-connect, and re-discover themselves. The multidisciplinary staff includes therapists, clinicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, addictions counselors, and behavioral health technicians, all trained in key therapeutic modalities and dedicated to providing compassionate, dignified, and unsurpassed care.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required
Valid state licensure/certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. ADT
Substance abuse experience required
Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles
Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality

Responsibilities

Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs
Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress
Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director
Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted
Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed
