About The Position
As a member of the Adult services team and under the general direction of the Manager, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues through the implementation of addiction recovery programs. Addiction best practices will be utilized to improve client outcomes. Requirements
- Chemical Dependency diploma
- Computer skills
- Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change
- Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model
- Knowledge in group dynamics
- Knowledge of therapeutic tools such as Motivational Interviewing and CBT.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
- Demonstrate knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on the individual.
- Knowledge in addictions screening, assessment tools and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Chemical Dependency is acceptable
- Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
Responsibilities
- Restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues through the implementation of addiction recovery programs.
- Utilize addiction best practices to improve client outcomes.
- Deliver workshops and lecture material to clients.
- Accurately triage addiction(s), collectively develop a recovery and case plan.
- Assess withdrawal symptoms related to substance use.
