About The Position

This is a Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) position focused on providing a psychosocial environment to assist with the rehabilitation and community integration of individuals experiencing mental illness. The role involves duties specific to Strathroy Site’s Community Wellness Programs (CWP). The program aims to support young people, particularly those from communities facing barriers to employment, as they transition into the labour market.

Requirements

  • Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social services, mental health and/or addictions.
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
  • Ability to attend work regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist direct-service staff in the planning, development and facilitation of leisure and life-skills programs for the rehabilitation and community integration of individuals experiencing mental illness.
  • Support and encourage client participation in leisure and life-skills programs.
  • Facilitate social interaction among clients.
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating special events.
  • As a group project, assist with the development and implementation of specific project / program to enhance the activities to clients in the community.
  • Assist with compiling of daily attendance sheets.
  • Identify, assess and report to identified supervisory staff, any emergency situations concerning person(s) or property, as per CMHA TVAMHS procedures.
  • Complete all documentation as prescribed in CMHA TVAMHS policies and procedures.

Benefits

  • $17.60 per hour
  • 35 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks
  • Available to work shifts between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Schedule will be predominately Monday to Friday, but some after-hours, weekend or public holiday shifts may be required
  • Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
