About The Position

Ford is seeking an ADAS Sensing Systems Validation Engineer to validate and continuously improve advanced driver-assistance sensing performance across its vehicle lineup. The role develops and executes design validation methods at component, system, and vehicle levels, accounting for diverse environmental conditions and cross-carline variability. It also contributes to defining use cases, functional requirements, and performance targets for ADAS sensing systems. The engineer collaborates with hardware and software teams, Systems Engineering, Program Management, feature owners, and suppliers to align verification and validation activities with project goals. The position applies systems-level thinking to develop and refine test methods, supports data analysis across SIL, HIL, bench, and vehicle environments, and identifies opportunities to use HIL and CAE for platform and sensor verification. The role also advances V&V processes using industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of validation or test engineering experience in a professional or educational setting, or a combination of both.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis in laboratory, HIL, and vehicle test environments.
  • General knowledge of or experience developing or testing ADAS features and sensing systems using radar, cameras, lidar, ultrasonic sensors, or related vehicle systems.
  • Proven technical skills using Vector, CANalyzer, and CANape tools.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience leading validation and verification of ADAS sensing systems.
  • Experience with computer vision and radar tracking of humans, vehicles, static roadway obstacles, or other typical road objects.
  • Experience with computer vision detection and tracking of signs, lights, lanes, and other key artifacts.
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design.
  • Experience reviewing, categorizing, and analyzing field data to determine error states or failure modes.
  • Experience developing, conducting, observing, and reporting statistically relevant V&V methods across the global population.
  • Experience with MobilEye EyeQ technology.
  • Exposure to vehicle attribute development, such as Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Package, and Performance/FE.
  • Experience in project management and/or an integration role leading and directing other team members.
  • Experience with failure mode analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of Kalman filtering, vehicle dynamics, and linear or nonlinear control methods.
  • Software engineering and algorithm development experience in any language, such as C, C++, Python, or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and execute design validation methods to assess sensing system performance at component, system, and vehicle levels across environmental and cross-carline noise factors.
  • Support the development, design, and verification of ADAS sensing system use cases, functional-level requirements, and targets.
  • Support ADAS sensing system upgrades and enhancements by working with feature owners on modeling changes, regression testing, test vector support, data review, issue identification, and supplier coordination.
  • Develop and improve system- and subsystem-level designs, interfaces, and specifications to support consistent performance across Ford vehicle offerings.
  • Ensure system design, failure mode analysis, functional safety, and related deliverables enable integration with existing features and a strong user experience.
  • Support development of data analysis techniques and methods for sensing system data from SIL, HIL, bench, and vehicle test environments.
  • Coordinate with Software Development, Program Management, Systems Engineering, and suppliers to align V&V activities with project goals.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use HIL and CAE methods for ADAS platform and sensor performance verification.
  • Improve V&V processes and methodologies by applying industry best practices and emerging technologies.
