About The Position

This position provides adapted sports opportunities to former patients and others in the communities with complex disabilities. Position is responsible for providing support and assistance with the overall administration and development of the adapted sports program. The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience. Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
• Ability to work independently while performing non-patient care activities such as cleaning, equipment set-up, etc. and the practice of ambulation or a personal exercise program that are not of a skilled level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or work equivalency.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with ski or paddling instruction
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Physically assisting individuals with complex physical disabilities in year round and seasonal sports opportunities. This includes physically lifting people.
• Teach individuals how to use adapted sports equipment including cycling, skiing, kayaking, paddle board, sailing lessons.
• Maintain equipment in safe working order.
• Transport equipment and trailers to and from sporting events.
• Set up program sessions: equipment, accessories, tents, awnings and hydrations stations.
• Clean up equipment , accessories and all session gear after each session use.
• Schedule appointments for sports sessions.
• Other projects as assigned.
