About The Position

The City of Delaware is seeking volunteers for its boards, commissions, and committees. The ADA Compliance Committee has five members appointed by the Mayor with the consent of Council. The Mayor designates a chairperson. At least two committee members must be persons with a disability as defined by the ADA. Members must reside in the City. There are no term limits. Appointments are voluntary and uncompensated.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of the City of Delaware.
• At least two of the Committee’s five members must be persons with a disability as defined by the ADA.

Responsibilities

• Establish ground rules or procedures for hearing complaints referred by the ADA Coordinator concerning alleged discrimination in access to and participation in public facilities, services, employment, activities, and functions in the City.
• Conduct public hearings on complaints and render written recommendations in accordance with the grievance procedures established in Chapter 163.07.
