The Acute Care Medicine unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (South Campus) is a 38-bed unit that cares for patients with a wide range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and many other conditions. The unit provides advanced training to nurses to ensure they reach the highest level of functioning. The unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, and is supported by an advanced practice nurse. A multidisciplinary team, including a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist, collaborates with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to deliver quality patient care.
