About The Position

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is a modern, state-of-the-art 295-bed acute care facility, offering an advanced neurosurgery program with Spine Center accreditation amongst other specialty services. The role of the Student Radiologic Technologist is to perform diagnostic radiographic examinations under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist using JRCERT guidelines. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must be working on completion of a bachelor’s degree, Diploma or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology (verification from school is required)
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist using JRCERT guidelines
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality
  • Communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques
  • Present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff
  • Assist in maintaining a work area free from hazards
  • Perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed
  • Vary work schedule
  • Provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving the patient population (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric)
  • Ensure that patient examinations are performed in an accurate and timely manner; not to exceed 30 minutes
  • Provide accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming
  • Maintain an effective use of time, report availability accordingly
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to assist others
  • Consistently display team effort
  • Apply knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images with use of professional knowledge to meet or exceed department guidelines
  • Maintain exam accuracy, i.e., minimum views, labeling, patient dose, positioning, patient history and shielding
  • Minimize patient exposure
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment performance
  • Report malfunctions to supervisor
  • Convey to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to the problem
