About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring Acute Care Surgeons in Huntsville, Alabama, to work as wound care physicians and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities and other post-acute settings. The role offers clinical autonomy and a weekday schedule without nights, weekends, call, or pagers. Surgical debridement and bedside procedures remain part of daily practice, alongside evaluation and treatment of chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds.

The position is available full-time or part-time. Part-time physicians work 2–3 days per week; full-time physicians work 4–5 days per week. Full-time average annual earnings are listed as $250,000–$500,000, with no earning cap as an independent contractor. Compensation is per patient and per procedure, with quarterly bonus programs; top performers may earn more than $500,000 through performance bonuses. Comprehensive wound care training is provided, and previous wound care experience is not required.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Unrestricted or clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
• DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Candidates must complete confidential pre-employment DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
• Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds.
• Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
• Collaborate in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings, following patients through the healing process.
• Lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the area.
