About The Position

The Standard’s summer actuarial internship gives students exposure to the actuarial profession, the company’s culture, insurance products, and actuarial functions and practices. Interns work with actuaries across the organization and learn about operational areas including IT, Underwriting, HR, Claims, and Marketing through leader lunches and speaker series. Interns are assigned to an actuarial team, which may include Employee Benefits, Retirement Plans, Individual Disability Insurance, Individual Annuities, Actuarial Transformation, or Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management. Work may involve product development, pricing, valuation, experience studies, financial and production reporting, systems testing, process automation, or modeling. Each intern gives a presentation at the end of the internship about their projects, experiences, and learning to actuarial leaders from across the organization. Interns expected to graduate within a year of completing the internship may be considered for the actuarial student rotation program upon graduation. The internship is full-time and expected to be fully remote, with an opportunity to work in the office if circumstances allow.
