The Actuarial Analyst 1, Analytics/Forecasting within the Pricing team is responsible for developing pricing assumptions, submitting bids, and filing premium rates and rate certifications with regulatory agencies to obtain approval. The role supports the implementation of rates, new plans, and benefit changes; advises Product Development on the cost impact of new products and benefits; and develops and maintains tools for pricing standard and custom benefits. Work assignments are typically straightforward and moderately complex. The Actuarial Analyst 1 establishes market-level financial metrics aligned with segment profitability goals, analyzes results and projections, and recommends pricing actions to address gaps in targeted performance. The role uses market-level projections and experience-data tools to identify root causes and uncover actionable insights. It also involves researching the competitive landscape and collaborating with Sales and other market-supporting partners to develop strategies that drive profitable membership growth. The analyst is accountable for actuarial certifications related to rate filings, including attesting to compliance with state and federal rating and benefit regulations. The position requires an understanding of professional concepts, standards, regulations, strategies, and operating practices within the assigned work area. The analyst determines work approaches and priorities while following established direction. Work is often guided by precedent, documented procedures, regulations, and professional standards, with some interpretation required.
