Actuarial Intern Life – Summer 2027
About The Position
Gain valuable experience as a Life Actuarial Intern. In this role, you will be providing support to actuarial staff and assisting in basic actuarial functions and insurance concepts. As an intern, you will begin to develop a working knowledge of any/all of the following: Life & annuity products, Current laws and regulations impacting the insurance industry, Actuarial software, Valuation and financial reporting, Rate development and product implementation, Model development, Data analytics. Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. The final 10% will be spent on shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
Requirements
- Working toward a college degree in math or actuarial science
- Substantial experience with spreadsheets
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets to solve actuarial related problems
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems using a mathematical approach
- Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical problems and solutions
- Dependable
- Able to work full-time (38.75 hours per week)
- Able to work on-site in West Des Moines during Summer of 2027
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an actuarial exam
- Experience with coding languages and/or data analytics tools
