About The Position

Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. is a leading provider of legacy reinsurance solutions, working with insurance companies to execute transformational solutions for legacy Life & Annuity and P&C lines. The company manages a significant general account and is backed by sophisticated institutional investors. This 10-week Internship Development Program offers students the opportunity to apply college knowledge in a meaningful role with an immediate impact on the business. The internship is based in the Nashville, TN office and runs from June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Interns will join the life actuarial team, gaining core technical knowledge and professional skills across business lines. They will also complete a capstone project on a cross-functional team and have opportunities to learn from senior management. The program includes classes on various business aspects, volunteer opportunities, presentations, panels, and social events.

Requirements

  • Rising seniors who have excelled in previous work experience.
  • Demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement.
  • Possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry.
  • Must graduate between November 2026 and July 2027.
  • Possess a powerful blend of IQ (technical skills, consistent learning, statistical & financial acumen) and EQ (adaptive communication, empathy, listening skills, challenging with humility).
  • Diverse background of experience, culture, and thought.
  • Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a record of successful teamwork.
  • Candidates must be available to work in Nashville for all 10-weeks of the program.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Unable to consider applicants who will now or in the future require sponsorship for an employment visa.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have already passed at least one actuarial exam administered by the Society of Actuaries.

Responsibilities

  • Determine reserve valuations and financial reporting.
  • Develop long-term projections of insurance products for internal analytical and regulatory purposes.
  • Perform experience studies.
  • Set assumptions for Life, Annuity, and Accident & Health blocks of insurance.
  • Complete a capstone project on a cross-functional team.
  • Learn directly from senior management.
