Actuarial Assistant
About The Position
BCBST is hiring an entry-level actuarial student to join its Actuarial Division. The role works with actuarial models to set reserves, estimate and review risk adjustment, produce monthly forecasts, and develop premiums for the company’s lines of business. It also offers the opportunity to help shape the use of AI within Actuarial by working with AI models and development tools to build applications, automate workflows, and enhance actuarial analysis. The position involves collaboration with Actuarial teams across BCBST. The work environment is flexible, with options to work fully remotely, in a hybrid arrangement, or in the office. Sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Completion of one or more Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop models for pricing, forecasting, or valuation of the Commercial and Government lines of business.
- Retrieve and/or prepare data for model development.
- Monitor emerging experience and analyze actual versus expected results.
- Present technical work results to supervisors and peers.
- Document methods and assumptions used in models and experience monitoring.
- Perform technical peer reviews for others in the Actuarial Division.
