About The Position

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking actuarial team at a leading High Net Worth Personal Lines Carrier, where your expertise will directly shape pricing strategy, risk management, and business growth. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will report to the AVP, Actuary at Berkley One. You will be responsible for working on state rate reviews, actuarial indications and analysis in support of pricing personal lines products, including building actuarial metrics dashboards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Economics.
  • Commitment to continuing education demonstrated by progression through the Casualty Actuarial Society exam program (1-2 exams passed) or other insurance professional designations.
  • 0-1 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry.
  • Proficiency with Excel, SQL, and R (or other data scripting/statistical language) is expected.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new software tools is expected.
  • Deep empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike, with commitment to delivering thoughtful data-informed solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences clearly to convey complex concepts.

  • Ideally, candidate will have at least an actuarial internship experience, possibly with a focus on personal lines auto and property lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance rating methodologies for both existing and emerging products, leveraging advanced actuarial techniques and data-driven insights to drive competitive differentiation.
  • Conduct competitor pricing and segmentation analysis to uncover profitable growth opportunities and identify underperforming segments.
  • Recommend targeted corrective actions to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Prepare and validate complex datasets from internal systems such as exposure, premium, loss, claims, and pricing data, as well as external data sources, using SQL, R, and other analytical tools.
  • Apply rigorous data quality checks and exploratory analysis.
  • Present actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive the actuarial components of state expansion and regulatory filings, including competitor benchmarking, actuarial modeling, and documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, IT, and Legal teams to ensure timely and compliant filings that support business growth and profitability.
  • Champion innovation by identifying emerging trends, tools, and methodologies that enhance actuarial and organizational capabilities.
  • Provide leadership within the actuarial team to foster continuous improvement.
  • Maintain robust monthly and quarterly reporting frameworks to monitor underwriting performance and profitability.
