About The Position

Join USAA as an Actuarial Intern to support Pricing, Modeling, Reserving, and Risk Assessment in the Life and P&C industry. Our internship program encourages you to showcase your skills, while gaining real-life experience that’ll help you jump-start your career. Our interns deliver innovative solutions to real business challenges, while building enduring relationships in a collaborative culture with their manager and an assigned mentor. The internships will be based at the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship.
  • Graduation date between August 2027 and June 2029.
  • Foundational and conceptual knowledge of actuarial functions and business operations.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or Finance.
  • Sitting for or having completed one or more actuarial exams
  • Experience communicating or presenting technical topics to a broad audience.
  • Demonstrated leadership through employment, extracurricular activities, community service, or other involvement.
  • Prior quantitative internship or related employment experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of programing languages and tools such as SQL, VBA, SAS, R, and/or Python.
  • 1 or more actuarial exams completed.
  • Understanding and experience applying data analysis and actuarial techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses for new products, future projections, repricing, and financial strength assessments.
  • Acquire and apply foundational knowledge of USAA’s business, products, and processes.
  • Utilize actuarial modeling software for pricing, valuation, and risk management.
  • Enter data and tables, run models, and generate reports under direct supervision following risk and compliance procedures.
