Actor/Interpreter - Lantern Lights (Seasonal)
About The Position
Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking seasonal non-union actor/interpreters for the Museum’s Lantern Lights Holiday theatrical programming in Mystic, CT. Lantern Lights – Actors will alternate between scripted plays/solo readings, and scripted interpretive/educational talks on various holiday-themed topics. Performers will be dressed in period costume circa 1876. Performances are Thursday – Sunday December 3rd through December 20th, with additional performances on 12/21, 12/22, and 12/23. There are options for performing two out of four nights, or all four nights. Call times may be as early as 1:00PM. Work day is 2:30PM - 8:00PM. Rehearsals begin in October. Auditions are the week of September 21st. Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and in all weather conditions is required.
Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- Previous acting/public speaking experience
- Willing to work weekends and evenings throughout October, November, and December.
- Willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions, including rain, wind, snow, and cold.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of historical reenactment a plus
- Experience with improvisation a plus
