About The Position

The Activity Leader is responsible for caring for children in Play & Learn/Kids Adventure and ensuring a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment. The role fosters children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth, demonstrates the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and interacts positively with parents to develop trusting relationships. The position supervises participants to ensure their safety and provide caring, nurturing care.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior, and development.
Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and ability to lead group activities.
Ability to use age-appropriate behavior management techniques according to YMCA guidelines.
Maintain current First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Safety & Risk Management, and New Employee Orientation certifications, along with other position-related training required for Play & Learn/Kids Adventure employees, within 60–90 days of employment.
Warm and friendly personality and willingness to interact and play with children.
Understand and accept the YMCA’s goals and values.

Responsibilities

Care for children in Play & Learn/Kids Adventure and ensure a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.

Interact positively with parents to develop trusting relationships.
Supervise Play & Learn/Kids Adventure participants to ensure safety and provide a caring, nurturing environment.
Lead age-appropriate group activities such as crafts and games.
