About The Position

Mt. Olympus Rehabilitation in Salt Lake City, Utah, is hiring a full-time Activities Director/Supervisor for its skilled nursing facility. The organization aims to provide high-quality care and help patients maximize functional independence so they can safely transition to the next level of care. Its guiding motto is “leading with integrity, empowering people, delivering outcomes.” The Activities Supervisor/Director creates and carries out a therapeutic activities program for geriatric residents. The program is designed around residents’ interests and needs and supports their functional abilities. Activities may be individual, group, or bedside offerings, held in a variety of locations, and may include special and seasonal events.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Love for the geriatric population.

Nice To Haves

Therapeutic Recreation Technician (TRT) qualification is highly desired but not required.
Some prior nursing home activities experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and provide individual, group, and bedside activities that reflect residents’ needs and interests.
Develop and post a monthly activities calendar.
Interview residents, interested family members, legal representatives, and significant others to gather and update information for individualized activities programs, accommodate individual needs and preferences, and protect and promote residents’ rights.
Participate in developing the department budget and provide the Administrator with relevant information about the department’s financial needs and status.
Hire and retain qualified, competent activity staff and volunteers.
Adapt activities to residents’ cognitive and physical functional levels using task segmentation, verbal prompts, set-up assistance, physical assists, and demonstrations.
Maintain and clean activity equipment and supplies, and keep activity spaces clean and orderly.
