About The Position

The Activities Staff member is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational activities and entertainment for resort guests of all ages. This position helps create a fun, engaging, and memorable guest experience by leading activities, promoting participation, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Activities may include games, sports, crafts, tournaments, family programs, and seasonal events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in recreation, hospitality, camps, childcare, or guest activities preferred.
  • Energetic, outgoing personality with strong guest service skills.
  • Ability to lead group activities and engage guests of all ages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to guest entertainment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Lifeguard certification may be beneficial depending on resort activities.
  • Serve as a guest relations ambassador, delivering exceptional service every moment of the day.
  • Exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and respect towards guests and associates under all circumstances.
  • Strive to create memorable guest experiences, maintaining Shangri-La's high service standards.
  • Follow established work procedures and policies, maintaining punctuality and reliable attendance.
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment with a positive attitude.
  • Approach problem-solving proactively, seeking assistance when needed and continuously improving skills.
  • Adhere to Shangri-La's safety and security policies, including key controls and proper handling of chemicals.
  • Exercise care when lifting heavy objects and promptly report any safety concerns or hazards.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in outdoor recreational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and encourage participation in scheduled activities and events.
  • Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational activities for adults, families, and children.
  • Create a welcoming, energetic, and inclusive environment for all guests.
  • Provide information to guests regarding daily activity schedules and resort amenities.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and setting up daily resort activities and special events.
  • Lead games, tournaments, fitness sessions, arts and crafts, and group activities.
  • Assist with seasonal programming, holiday events, and themed resort activities.
  • Help promote activities through announcements and guest interactions.
  • Prepare activity areas with necessary equipment and supplies prior to scheduled events.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of activity spaces and equipment.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of special events, tournaments, and group programs.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by monitoring activities and enforcing safety guidelines.
  • Provide clear instructions for games and activities.
  • Address guest questions, concerns, or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Report incidents or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintain recreational equipment such as sports gear, craft supplies, and game materials.
  • Report damaged or missing equipment.
  • Assist with inventory and supply management.
