About The Position

Bluegrass Care and Rehab Center is a 124-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility operated by Signature HealthCARE. The Activities / Recreation Director plans, organizes, and directs activities that support residents’ social, spiritual, and psychological needs. The role coordinates assistance for residents participating in activities and events, provides in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events, and develops an ongoing, accessible calendar that appeals to residents of different ages, abilities, and genders.

Requirements

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or certification as an Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, including one full-time year in a resident activities program in a healthcare setting; or prior completion of a state-approved training course.
• One to two years of management or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct activities that promote residents’ social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
• Coordinate and verify that residents receive assistance with activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in-room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities that meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to residents of all genders, ages, and abilities.
