About The Position

The Activities Coordinator provides small- and large-group activities designed to meet each resident’s needs and interests. Activities include social, indoor and outdoor, off-site, religious, creative, educational, and exercise programs. The coordinator assists with documentation of social activities, interviews residents, maintains quarterly charting, and may assist with social activities.

Requirements

High school diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or completion of a CHS-approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate.
Meet one of the following experience or qualification pathways: two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, including one full-time year in a patient activities program in a health care setting; qualification as an occupational therapist, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, or occupational therapy assistant; or completion of at least 36 hours of training in a course specifically designed for this position and approved by the facility, with regular consultation from an occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, or recreation therapist who has at least one year of health care setting experience.

Responsibilities

Provide small- and large-group activities tailored to residents’ needs and interests.
Offer social, indoor and outdoor, off-site, religious, creative, educational, and exercise activities.
Assist with documentation of social activities.
Interview residents and document information.
Maintain quarterly charting.
At times, assist with social activities.
