Activities Assistant - Life Enrichment - Recreation Leader - Part-Time
About The Position
Ozanam Hall Nursing Home of Queens is seeking a part-time Activities Assistant – Life Enrichment – Recreation Leader. The facility is a faith-based, nonprofit provider of short-term rehabilitation and skilled geriatric care. The position leads arts, crafts, and recreation programs, introduces activities that encourage resident involvement, and supports residents during entertainment and outside programs. Available schedules are two hours daily Monday through Friday or three hours on Saturday and Sunday. The hourly pay range is $19.35 to $21.26, based on experience. Recreational and occupational therapy students are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Prompt, professional, reliable, and a team player.
- Able to read, write, and speak English.
- Able to push wheelchairs.
- Able to be around animals (pets).
- Ability to work with the dementia population.
Nice To Haves
- Previous recreation or activities experience with a geriatric population is preferred.
- MDS knowledge is a plus.
- Recreational and occupational therapy students are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Lead arts, crafts, and recreation programs.
- Introduce new projects and activities and encourage resident involvement.
- Assist with resident transport and attend to resident needs during entertainment or outside programs.
- Ensure proper care, use, storage, and protection of tools and equipment.
- Complete activity assessments.
- Maintain daily records of resident attendance and participation.
- Attend recommended workshops, in-services, and meetings.
