The Activities Assistant participates in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities. This role involves assisting in maintaining good communication between employees, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to ensure the needs and best interests of residents, the community, and the facility are met. The position also participates in community planning related to the facility's interests and resident/family needs. Key duties include assisting in the development of a monthly activity calendar, maintaining attendance records, and supporting the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing action plans for quality deficiencies as directed by the Activities Director. The role also involves participating in discharge planning, developing and implementing activity care plans and resident assessments, and arranging transportation for residents when necessary for outings, appointments, or discharge. The Activities Assistant assists in developing a monthly activity schedule that includes resident outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents, encouraging participation in self-initiated activities like hobbies, crafts, and reading, and providing necessary materials such as Braille or audiobooks. They also assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes as assigned by the Activity Director, and maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and security of the Activity Department.
