About The Position

The Activities Aide is responsible for assisting residents with activities, maintaining activity calendars, and supporting the Activity Director. This role requires a compassionate and creative individual with good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with the elderly population. Availability on weekends is a requirement for this PRN position.

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED equivalent or enrolled in high school if below 18 years of age.
Must be able to exercise judgment where procedures cannot be standardized.
Must exhibit a spirit of cooperation.
Must have a pleasant personality.
Able and willing to work with a variety of people.
Must be able to use common sense and be a fair judge of character.
Be creative and have a sense of imagination.
Empathetic approach to the elderly.
Some weekend availability required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a recreation setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Posting monthly activity calendars in resident's rooms.
Supplying a weekly movie from the library.
Assisting residents to and from activities.
Keeping daily attendance of activities and turning it into the Activity Director.
Leading group activities as planned and scheduled.
Initiating and motivating 1-on-1 activities with residents not attending group activities.
Assisting with residents' community outings as scheduled.
Assisting with special events, including planning and leading.
Reporting to the Activity Director on residents' responses and/or progress.
Reporting needs of supplies to the Activity Director.
May be responsible for general housekeeping duties in the activity area.
Attending in-service training as scheduled.
Communicating with nursing for the purpose of assisting in transporting residents to activities.
Abiding by policies of the facility.
Performing other related duties as directed by the Activity Director.
