The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. CHECW operates on a foundation of historical and structural analysis, highlighting the harm caused by centuries of unjust policies and advocating for redress for impacted NYC communities. The center collaborates with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations to address social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial factors, aiming to improve the health and well-being of New Yorkers. CHECW includes several bureaus, such as Bronx, Brooklyn, and Harlem Neighborhood Health, Chronic Disease Prevention, Equitable Health Systems, and Finance and Administrative Services. The Deputy Commissioner of CHECW also serves as the Agency's Chief Equity Officer, overseeing the internal 'Race to Justice' reform effort to address racial health gaps and improve health outcomes for all New Yorkers. The NYC Health Department is seeking an Action Center Manager for the new Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health. This bureau will support the broader Neighborhood Health Strategy and work alongside similar bureaus in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Bronx. Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, the Action Center Manager will lead the development and launch of the Jamaica Health Action Center.
