About The Position

The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a limited number of Pearson Fellow positions, starting September 16, 2027. These positions are for Acting Instructors with a reduced teaching load, emphasizing a commitment to research, teaching, and service within a diverse and inclusive environment. The role is a full-time, nine-month academic appointment for one year, renewable twice based on performance and progress, for a total of three nine-month periods. The successful candidate will significantly contribute to the department's research and teaching mission, possessing a strong background and interest in applied mathematics or related fields, with excellent communication skills for both teaching and research.

Requirements

  • PhD, or foreign equivalent, in applied mathematics or a related field by the start of the appointment.
  • Strong record of research in a relevant area of applied mathematics.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Ability and affinity for communicating ideas of applied mathematics in both teaching and research settings.
