About The Position

Owensboro Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time Mathematics Instructor in the Mathematics, Natural, and Social Sciences Department. Primary teaching assignments will include a variety of mathematics courses, such as College Algebra, Technical Algebra & Trigonometry, and Liberal Art Mathematics, along with their co-requisite courses. The option to teach additional mathematics and statistics courses, such as Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, and special topics courses, may also be available. This position reports directly to the Department Head. Assignments may include some evening, weekend, online, hybrid, and/or off-campus courses. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, working with a diverse population, and the college mission.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate hours of coursework in Mathematics.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and dedication to student success.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in in-person and online formats.
  • Teach 15 credit hours per semester (30 credit hours annually across fall and spring); assignments may include courses across multiple campuses, online, or a combination based on student needs.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methodologies to support students with varying educational backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles to achieve course competencies.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and support students in achieving academic success.
  • Complete Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) reports promptly.
  • Maintain accessibility for students by holding regular office hours and communicating availability through appropriate channels.
  • Represent the mathematics program within the community by engaging with professional organizations and stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with instructional best practices and industry trends.
  • Contribute to the college's mission through involvement in college and community service activities, including student recruitment and retention efforts.
