About The Position

Terros Health is seeking an ACT Substance Abuse Specialist to join an interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) clinical team serving people with serious mental illness or general mental health diagnoses under Court Ordered Treatment. The position provides substance use expertise and services as part of outpatient co-occurring disorders care at the 23rd Ave Healthcare Clinic in Phoenix and in the community. The role does not require a clinical license, but substance abuse services experience is required. Work is approximately 20% in an office setting and 80% in the field, with travel of up to 80%. The team provides treatment seven days a week, including weekends and holidays, so a very flexible schedule is required. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and reports directly to the ACT Clinical Coordinator. An additional $3.00 per hour ACT differential is offered in addition to base pay; bilingual Spanish speakers may be eligible for additional language differential pay. The specialist develops program activities, facilitates teamwork, and provides individual and group substance use treatment. As an ACT team member, the specialist assesses member needs and goals, contributes to individual service plans, advocates for members, and coordinates with families, providers, and community agencies. The role uses Motivational Interviewing to engage members and provides education and consultation to ACT staff on substance use issues. ACT services include assessing needs and functioning, treatment planning, direct care, coordination across providers, advocacy, medication observation and education, independent living skills training, and identifying meaningful daily activities. The specialist also recruits appropriate clients, routinely assesses whether ACT services remain necessary, facilitates transitions to less intensive services while maintaining continuity of care, monitors clients during transitions, and reintroduces services as needed. Additional therapeutic counseling is provided according to individual needs and treatment recommendations.
