About The Position

The Acquisitions Manager at Great River Learning (GRL) is responsible for identifying business opportunities within an assigned territory (Indiana and Michigan), interviewing professors, and persuading them to become GRL authors. The role involves developing interactive and engaging educational materials for lower-level, higher-enrollment courses. The company has the capability to market successful local publications nationally. This is a remote position requiring the manager to reside within Indiana or Michigan and travel to college campuses for approximately eight weeks each semester. The position is akin to being an investor on Shark Tank, requiring persuasion and competitive spirit to secure partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan and schedule weekly activities, including sending emails and making phone calls to arrange meetings.
  • Conduct meetings to interview potential candidates, identify business opportunities, and recruit college professors to become GRL authors.
  • Maximize time on campus during travel by making additional phone calls to high-priority contacts or department chairs.
  • Follow up with prospective and existing authors.
  • Maintain detailed notes and next steps in the CRM for all prospective, in-development, and existing publications to ensure information is accessible to both the acquisitions manager and the in-house team.
