About The Position

Oversees the agency’s CALEA accreditation process by reviewing standards, interpreting technical requirements, and ensuring ongoing compliance. Coordinates accreditation work groups and recommends improvements to systems, procedures, and equipment to meet accreditation standards. Meets regularly with key personnel to report progress and address needs. Maintains frequent communication with CALEA staff and keeps abreast of proposed changes to standards and policies and assessing their impact on agency operations. Researching applicable model policies, initiating reviews and the distribution of updated information. Provides supervision to the accreditation team through daily guidance, performance management and consistent reinforcement of agency priorities. Attends CALEA conferences and local accreditation network meetings to stay current with accreditation practices. Maintains all compliance documentation in an electronic compliance platform. Performs related duties as needed to support successful accreditation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, business or public administration, or a related field
  • Two years of responsible accreditation experience with a law enforcement agency (law enforcement experience preferred)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accreditation standards applicable to the assigned law enforcement agency and the accreditation process
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices, programs and operations of the assigned law enforcement agency
  • Ability to read/understand a wide range of technical literature
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to deal tactfully, professionally and effectively with others to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to prepare, edit, and maintain accurate documents, reports, records, files, and materials
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical materials concerning law enforcement and criminal justice processes
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required
  • Must be a US citizen or be a lawful permanent resident eligible for naturalization
  • This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing.
  • The use of illegal drugs, and/or the use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
  • Employees must not consume or be under the influence of alcohol while on duty, on work premises, or operating agency equipment.
