About The Position

The Accounts Representative V is responsible for providing comprehensive financial services in support of departmental operations, including the management of appropriated, discretionary, restricted and sponsored funds to 4-H Yough Development Program and Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC. Key responsibilities include financial accounting and transactions, procurement oversight, student appointments, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and stewardship of resources. This role supports 4-H Youth Development Program and Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC, offering financial guidance to faculty, researchers, staff, and students. The incumbent conducts proactive and retroactive financial analysis, resolves complex issues, and communicates outcomes clearly and professionally. The position requires a thorough understanding and application of University policies, procedures, the best practices, and plays a critical role in maintaining audit compliance and internal control integrity. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in business, finance, or related field, with 4-6 years of experience or equivalent combination.
  • Friendly, outgoing, able to work in an office with many interruptions, and have a strong customer service orientation.
  • PC proficiency using Excel, Word, Kuali Financial System (KFS) or similar software, and mainframe applications.
  • Ability to retrieve and manipulate data from multiple sources and online warehouses.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data with discretion.
  • Ability to multitask and work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, logic, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects of varying complexity and urgency.
  • Ability to construct complex financial statements that require an understanding of the inter-relationships of the data.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/HR or related field.
  • Familiarity with Cornell University administration, accounting, budget structure, procedures, and policies.
  • Successful completion of Cornell Accounting Certification Program, Cornell Research Administration Certificate, or similar external certification.
