This position is responsible for assigned accounts receivable functions and related accounting activities. The role involves analyzing receivable balances, billing activity, collection trends, and account status to determine appropriate accounting actions and account resolution strategies. The accountant will review and authorize receivable-related adjustments, corrections, write-off recommendations, credits, and other accounting transactions within established authority. This role also includes reconciling accounts receivable subsidiary records to the general ledger and resolving discrepancies, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of receivable processes and recommending improvements to strengthen internal controls, compliance, and fiscal accountability. Additionally, the position provides professional accounting guidance and consultation to departments, employees, and stakeholders regarding accounting procedures, fiscal requirements, financial reporting, and compliance matters. It involves interpreting accounting policies, fiscal regulations, and University procedures to advise stakeholders on appropriate accounting practices and financial decision-making. Participation in audits, fiscal reviews, compliance initiatives, and special accounting projects is also expected, including researching issues, analyzing financial information, and developing recommendations. The role also requires participation in professional development activities to maintain and expand professional accounting knowledge and expertise.
