About The Position

The Accounts Payable (AP) Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable function within a global organization. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, compliance with company policies, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The AP Lead will serve as a key liaison between finance, procurement, and business units worldwide, driving process improvements and supporting scalability for a $1B enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years in accounts payable or related finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in a global organization and familiarity with multi-currency transactions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and AP automation tools.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with shared services or centralized AP models.
  • Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end AP processes, including invoice receipt, coding, approval workflows, and payment execution.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and global tax regulations.
  • Lead and mentor AP specialists or clerks, providing guidance on complex transactions and issue resolution.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and escalations.
  • Collaborate with procurement and business units to resolve discrepancies and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes and implement automation tools (e.g., OCR, ERP enhancements).
  • Support global standardization initiatives and best practices across regions.
  • Prepare AP metrics, aging reports, and cash flow forecasts for leadership.
  • Monitor KPIs to ensure timely payments and optimize working capital.
