About The Position

MediaNews Group is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to manage the review and processing of invoices and check requests within our digital workflow and Oracle Fusion ERP. In addition to overseeing digital inputs, you will perform manual data entry to ensure all financial records are accurate and complete.

Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend written instructions (including process, policy, and procedures manuals), correspondence, and financial documents
Proficiency in legibly writing and organizing correspondence (generally in email)
Experience clearly communicating information and instructions verbally with other employees and vendors
Capacity to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills
A customer-focused mindset
High school diploma or GED (minimum required); or a combination of education and experience that enables success in all aspects of the position

Nice To Haves

College degree in finance, business, accounting, or a similar major (or relevant coursework) is preferred

Responsibilities

For assigned properties (newspapers), review and process previously scanned vendor invoices and internal check requests
Verify invoices for quantity, unit pricing, extensions, and applicable discounts
Enter invoices into the Oracle Fusion Accounts Payable system
Process invoices via Fusion to completion
Handle voucher-side of all carrier and refund uploads
Maintain knowledge of 1099s (basic regulations; ability to analyze an invoice for 1099 purposes; understanding of reporting requirements)
Adhere to all policies, processes, and procedures for accounts payable
For non-purchase order invoices (including internal check requests), check for valid GL coding for distribution to the general ledger
Demonstrate initiative in resolving problems and issues
