About The Position

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a prominent human services provider founded in 1894, offers a wide range of integrated services including social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional, and fitness programs. These services significantly improve the lives of 16,000 individuals annually, from ages 3 to 103, on Manhattan's East Side. The organization serves a diverse client base including older adults, unhoused individuals, children and families, disabled persons, and adult learners. The Accounts Payable Accountant will join a team of experienced accounting professionals, reporting to the Controller. The primary focus will be on accounts payable, managing the processing and accounting for all vendor bills for this large multiservice nonprofit. This role offers the opportunity to train in other accounting areas such as Payroll, Budgeting, Audit, and Program Accounting, performing a variety of functions that support the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of two years’ experience required
  • Sound knowledge of general and nonprofit-specific accounting principles and procedures
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and SUMIFS Functions)
  • High proficiency in the use of financial software applications--Financial Edge preferred

Nice To Haves

  • CPA a plus
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable using Financial Edge Software
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors
  • Analyze invoices, code and process for payment
  • Perform other key programmatic accounting functions as needed
  • Provide support in the areas of financial reporting, annual budgeting process, audits, grant compliance and financial operations
  • Prepare and process journal entries
  • Reconcile credit card transactions
  • Prepare and file 1099
