About The Position

The Southeast Health District is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the full-time, salaried position of Accounting Technician 1, 2, or 3 based in Waycross, GA. The Southeast Health District's mission is to promote and protect the health of people in Southeast Georgia, uniting with individuals, families, and communities to improve and enhance their quality of life. The district has clinic locations in 16 counties in Georgia. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Accounting Technician Trainee (FIT019) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional accounting and financial support functions to ensure the accurate processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintains financial records, prepares and reconciles accounts, processes deposits and journal entries, and supports accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepares financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Monitors account balances and expenditures for compliance with budgets and funding requirements.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records within the financial management system.
  • Ensures financial documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding financial transactions.
  • Interprets and applies established accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of financial information.
  • Performs other related accounting and financial support duties as assigned.
