MSHDA seeks an Accounting Technician. The position will maintain and reconcile financial documents on a monthly basis to MSHDA’s accounting system, complete complex journal vouchers, and prepare financial schedules for MSHDA’s annual audit. Competitive candidates for this position will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to interpret financial data, complete bookkeeping and accounting procedures, practices, methods, and techniques. Possess the ability to analyze and recommend improvements in accounting Systems. There is a possibility of a remote/hybrid schedule based on performance and operational need. However, all work must be performed in Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school
  • Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement.
  • All newly hired state employees are required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment.
  • All positions within the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) also require a state criminal background check and are subject to MSHDA's Ethical Standards, Conduct and Disclosure of Interest Policy, and will be expected to disclose any personal and financial interest that may conflict with official duties as an MSHDA employee.
  • Any offer of employment will remain conditional until the results of the background check, financial disclosure review, and drug test indicate eligibility for employment.
