About The Position

This specialist-level role performs advanced technical accounting work for the Claremore Veterans Home. Duties may include independently maintaining all accounting records for a small fiscal unit or performing specialized accounting tasks in a larger fiscal division across functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. The role involves maintaining and reporting financial accounting data, reconciling financial documents and transactions, processing payment-related records, and preparing routine financial reports.

Requirements

• One year of clerical, bookkeeping, or technical accounting experience.
• Three years of experience in collection procedures, including researching outstanding accounts, identifying delinquent accounts, communicating with customers regarding unpaid balances, documenting collection efforts, and coordinating payment resolutions.
• Knowledge of accounting procedures and terminology, business arithmetic, and modern office methods and procedures.
• Ability to use office equipment such as calculators, personal computers or computer keyboards, and copiers.
• Ability to maintain and report financial accounting data.
• Ability to work independently and perform a wide range of technical accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records, including ledgers, journals, registers, and individual accounts.
• Classify and code revenues and expenditures for entry into appropriate accounting records.
• Review and reconcile financial transactions.
• Examine invoices, expense vouchers, and other source documents to verify obligations and post appropriate records.
• Prepare financial reports, statements, and schedules of standard design.
• Maintain files of source documents and other information related to accounting activities.
• Perform collection procedures, including researching outstanding accounts, identifying delinquent accounts, communicating with customers about unpaid balances, documenting collection efforts, and coordinating payment resolutions.
